What's the difference between QC3.0 and QC4.0+ charging

2023-09-09    Author : Bikkon office

QC3.0 (Quick Charge 3.0) and QC4.0+ (Quick Charge 4.0+) are high-speed charging technologies developed by Qualcomm to provide faster charging for compatible devices. Here are the main differences between them:

1. Charging speed:

QC3.0: The QC3.0 charger supports a maximum charging power of 18 watts (9 volts, 2 amps). This is very fast compared to traditional charging methods and can charge devices in a relatively short time.

QC4.0+: QC4.0+ is a further improvement of QC3.0 and supports charging power up to 45 watts. This means it can charge devices faster, providing users with a faster charging experience. QC4.0+ also provides a higher voltage range to better adapt to various devices.

2. Compatibility:

QC3.0: QC3.0 is an earlier technology, so it is more common in the market. Many older and some newer smartphones and other mobile devices support QC3.0 charging.

QC4.0+: QC4.0+ is a newer technology and has relatively low compatibility. Some of the latest high-end smartphones and some new chargers support QC4.0+, but they are still not as popular as QC3.0 chargers.

3. Efficiency and temperature control:

QC3.0: QC3.0 offers significant improvements in charging speed, but may generate some heat while charging. Although QC3.0 devices usually have temperature control mechanisms, users still need to be careful Avoid overheating.

QC4.0+: While providing higher charging speed, QC4.0+ also pays more attention to temperature control and efficiency. It has more advanced power management technology that can better manage battery temperature and reduce the risk of overheating.

Overall, QC4.0+ is a further improvement over QC3.0, offering faster charging and higher efficiency while better handling temperature control. However, users should note that to enjoy the benefits of QC4.0+, they need to use a compatible device and charger. If the user's device only supports QC3.0, then the QC4.0+ charger can only charge at the speed of QC3.0.
